Day 1

To start a little Espresso - Jacobs to be precise  -
First impression very nice indeed!  Slightly less in the cup than the Carte Noire Espresso and much more subtle in flavor.  Very rich aftertaste with an almost fruity taste. Definitely one to keep.

It has been a strange day, with Siân at her placement church for both morning and afternoon services.  I have been working on my formative assessment for Bible in Christian ministry, reading 'Reading the Bible with Giants'.  More on that in the next few days as I start to muse about the question 'Evaluate the main strengths and limitations of the contribution of the history of interpretation to biblical interpretation'.

Today has also seen the end of my tash it would be corny to say that it grew on me, but the promise was to grow a Mo for Movember.  This is the second year I have lead the TheoBro's from Cranmer Hall and the Wesley Study Center in raising support for men's health.  We have had a lot of fun, grown some 'interesting' Mo's and raised a whopping £1,405 three times last years total.  For me this was a way of remembering my Grandfather who died last Movember, it has been an emotional month in many ways.

Richard preached on the well loved text from John 14:2-4 (2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.” (ESV)) at the funeral, it is good to remember a year later how appropriate that reading is not just for my grandfather, but for all of us as we enter a time of preparation to meet the Christ Child in just 24 days time.

Our hope is in the name of the Lord, come Emanuel come Lord Jesus.
